Disclosure: Digital Business Card is an independent store. We work with several digital business card platform partners and may earn a commission when you buy through us. This never changes your price. This store is the one-time card compared below. Every Popl fact comes from Popl's own website, checked on 31 October 2026.
Popl is a serious tool for event teams. Its pricing page leads with badge scanning, lead enrichment and CRM sync for conferences and trade shows. Large companies use it to measure what their events earn.
That focus is its strength. It also means the pricing is built around teams and quotes, not around one person who wants a good profile. This guide looks at Popl from the point of view of solo users and small teams, and how a one-time card compares.
For the full field of options, see our guide to the best digital business card.
Who should consider switching
You may want an alternative if:
- you are a freelancer, consultant or small business owner;
- you mainly need a profile people can scan and save;
- you do not run large event programmes;
- you want a price you can see before you talk to sales; or
- you would rather pay once than subscribe.
If your team works many trade shows and needs badge scanning with CRM sync, Popl is built for exactly that.
What Popl does well
- Event lead capture. Popl's Universal Badge Scanner reads the whole badge, not just its QR code. Popl says it works at any event, even when badges use encrypted codes.
- Enrichment and CRM sync. Popl lists verified contact and company data enrichment, qualifying questions, and self-serve CRM and calendar integrations.
- Simple team terms. Popl says its team pricing is all-inclusive: no per-seat fees, no per-scan credits and unlimited users, events and leads.
- Security. Popl lists SOC 2 Type 2 security on its pricing page.
- A free start for individuals. Popl says it offers a free plan for individuals, and the app is free to download.
- No app for the other person. Popl says your card opens in the recipient's browser.
For a sales or events team, that is a strong set.
Where Popl costs more or needs more
- Team prices are quote-only. Popl says it quotes pricing in a meeting instead of publishing it.
- Individual paid prices are not on its website. Popl names Pro and Pro+ plans for individuals, but we could not find their prices on popl.co. Its pricing page sends individuals to the app.
- Advanced features are paid. Popl says Universal Lead Capture, AI enrichment and event reporting are on paid plans.
- It is built for events. If you rarely attend trade shows, much of what you would pay for may go unused.
We could not confirm whether Popl sells physical NFC products from the pages we checked, so we have left that out.

The solo and small-team view
For one person, the real choice is between Popl's free plan, a Popl paid plan at a price you see in the app, and a one-time card.
If the free plan has what you need, it costs nothing. If you want lead tools without a subscription, Business Add-ons costs $120 once.
For a team of two to ten, Popl's no-per-seat model may suit you well if you attend many events. Ask for a quote and compare it with the one-time totals above. If your team rarely goes to trade shows, a profile per person, paid once, keeps the cost simple.
A worked example
Take a two-person design studio. They meet clients in person and go to one local trade fair a year. They want a smart profile each, with a way for clients to send an enquiry.
Popl's free plan may cover the profiles. For lead capture, they would need a paid plan at a price shown in the app, or a team quote. Here, two Business Add-ons profiles cost $120 each, once, with forms, contact leads and a built-in CRM.
If the studio grew into a sales team at a dozen events a year, Popl's event tools and no-per-seat model would be worth a demo.
What you keep and what you lose
You keep a live profile at a permanent link, a QR code, a save-contact button, analytics and unlimited edits.
You lose Popl's Universal Badge Scanner, its event campaigns and reporting, its enrichment and its CRM and calendar integrations.
What we could not verify
Popl's website did not show prices for its Pro and Pro+ plans, its team quotes, or whether it sells physical products, when we checked. We have not estimated any of them.
Switch if…
- you want to see the full price before talking to sales;
- you are one person or a small team;
- you mainly share by QR code and link at meetings;
- you do not need event badge scanning; or
- you want unlimited edits with no renewal. Our no-subscription guide explains what one payment covers.
Stay if…
- your team works many conferences and trade shows;
- you need badge scanning that works at any event;
- you rely on enrichment and CRM sync for event leads;
- unlimited users on one quote suits your team; or
- the free plan already covers what you need.
